Facebook attempts to erase the distiction between the Public Spehere and the Private Sphere.

Note that if you used to be friends with me on Facebook and you no longer are— I didn't "unfriend" you, I deleted my Facebook account. I also avoid Google+/Google Mail/Google etc and Yahoo Groups for similar reasons. I am not a "consumer."
